Singing in front of hundreds of fans, Taylor Swift performs a number on her Reputation Stadium Tour, which included darker songs as compared to her newest single, which is cheerful, upbeat, and empowering. At midnight on Friday, April 26, Swift released the music video for her new song “ME!” with Brendon Urie, which quickly hit #1 on YouTube.

Over the past few months Taylor Swift fans have been anxious for new music, especially since she changed her Instagram theme from her previous dark, edgy theme associated with her Reputation album to a bright, pastel one. This has caused her audiences to wonder if her next album will be comprised of music that is happier and more upbeat than her last one, which introduced themes about revenge and edgier topics than she has covered in the past. At midnight on Friday, April 26, fans were allowed a chance to confirm or deny their conspiracies with the release of her new music video for her never-before-heard single, “ME!”

In the video, Swift sings alongside Brendon Urie, lead singer of Panic! at the Disco, for an upbeat anthem about individuality and self-love. The video featured a bright color scheme and fantasy-esque visuals, including unicorns, colorful streets, and elaborate dance numbers.

Before she released the music video for “ME!,” Swift’s most recent music videos were dark, angsty, and all-encompassing of some of her rough recent personal experiences, particularly her dispute with Katy Perry. Now, fans can confirm that she is changing her style completely, and her upcoming album will most likely reflect that which she gave us a glimpse of in the “ME!” video. Taylor Swift has not yet announced the release date of her next album, which will include “ME!,” but it is rumored to come out before the end of 2019.
