Panic Point is a haunted forest in Youngsville that people in NC most commonly go to during halloween time. Some feel as if it’s a one–time attraction because of how scary it is, while others find the horror level “not scary enough” and childish.
13 years ago a flat plot of land was turned into a wide space full of panic. Founders Brian Garff and Geoff Huguely kept planting areas of terror till the whole forest was full of horror and fear. The half-mile “Haunted Forest” is their main attraction with over 30 haunters, people dressed in scary costumes with gory editorial makeup, found at each step.
In only a couple hours, you’ll go through at least 38 different scenes and encounter actors whose only purpose is to cause fear and chaos. Staff will never touch you but expect creatures coming from every direction to scare you. At the entrance, you might find an old woman carrying a small doll calling for visitors to help her and her daughter, then scaring them with a loud horn. Then a man on stilts in a clown costume will most likely photobomb all pictures visitors try to take and is friendliest to take pictures with. There will also be a small campfire to offer heat to visitors during chilly October nights. Stands and booths are provided on the sidelines to entertain visitors standing in line.
Sophomore Kaitlyn Bass said, “The jumpscares were extremely underwhelming and the horror rides felt childish and too PG. I enjoyed the detail in costumes and entertainment during the long waiting lines. But I wouldn’t go again. ”
Sophomore Ndeye Dieng disagreed, saying, “Panic point was extremely scary in the best way possible. The amount of special effects, gory makeup, booths by the wait line, jumpscares to keep you entertained, and detailed horror rides make you feel as if you are in a horror movie yourself. It is very realistic but a great experience and I go every halloween.”
Panic Point is a scare fest that runs the entire halloween season. It includes 7 main attractions including a hayride, and maze. It’s a great experience shared by many people in North Carolina and suitable for all ages.
