Around noon, Southeast Raleigh High School went into a code-red lockdown due to a potential threat. At 1:00 p.m., the Raleigh Police Department (RPD) announced that two students had been stabbed and the suspect(s) are currently on the run. The scene is currently secured and isolated according to the RPD.
Police said the initial call came in at 11:01 a.m. when a school employee called for an EMS saying a student had been stabbed. The student, whose name has not yet been released to the public, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. At least one juvenile is in custody, but the identity of the other suspect is unknown, and police are currently looking in nearby neighborhoods and areas.
When this incident occurred, Southeast High School posted the following statement on its website:
“Parents: Our school is under Code Red lockdown while law enforcement responds to a potential threat.
No one is allowed on our campus during a Code Red lockdown. You will not be permitted near campus until the lockdown is over. Please do not come to school to pick up your student. In a code-red lockdown, the entire building is locked down. No one is allowed to enter or exit the building until an all-clear announcement is received from police.
“We will share updates via email and our school website as soon as possible.
“We appreciate your cooperation in helping us to keep our students and staff safe. More information about our lockdown protocols is available on the Keeping Your Child Safe website.”
They stated that once the school goes into code-green, parents will be able to pick up their child in lot D at the Walnut Creek Amphitheatre.
