Getting ready for Valentine’s Day can be stressful with all the worrying about what to do on date night. One of the most popular things to do is to settle down and grab a bucket of popcorn for a nice, relaxing movie. There are lots of timeless love stories that you can watch, but which one is right for you? There are the more tragic movies, like Titanic, and the more comedic movies, like Crazy, Stupid, Love. These are just some of the different options you may be thinking about watching with your significant other, but the most popular type remains the happy ending love story. A popular example of this kind of movie is Safe Haven, a movie based off of the bestselling novel by Nicholas Sparks. In this movie we see meet Katie (Julianne Hough) a woman with a mysterious past who moves to Southport, North Carolina, and meets Alex (Josh Duhamel), a widowed man with two kids. As their story goes on, they get to know each other and we learn more about Katie’s past. This movie was filmed in coastal North Carolina, and it is sure to make a good date night romance.

Another good romance movie is The Notebook, also based off of Nicholas Sparks’ bestselling novel. This movie is about a poor, young man named Noah (Ryan Gosling) who falls in love with a rich woman named Allie (Rachel McAdams). As they begin to date, Allie starts to have an evolving sense of freedom, and they become separated by their social classes. With a stellar cast, that also includes Kevin Connolly and James Marsden, this movie is great for you and your partner on Valentine’s Day.

Another good type of movie to watch on Valentine’s Day is the love tragedy. This type includes a classic and timeless love story called Titanic. Titanic (1997) is about a young man named Jack Dawson (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Rose Bukater (Kate Winslet) who fall in love on the Titanic, the most luxurious liner of her era.  This movie is about an everlasting love with the thought of never letting your one true love go. This story, although a tragedy, is still a great movie to watch and will leave you in tears. Another tragedy is The Fault In Our Stars, based on the top selling John Green book. This movie is about Hazel Grace Lancaster (Shailene Woodley), a 16-year-old cancer patient, who falls in love with Gus Waters (Ansel Elgort), another teen from her cancer support group. When Gus invites Hazel to meet her favorite author, they embark on the adventure of their brief lives.

Then last, but certainly not least, there are the more comedic romantic movies like Crazy, Stupid, Love. This movie is about Cal Weaver (Steve Carell), a man living the dream life until he learns his wife, Emily (Julianne Moore) is cheating on him. Cal then goes out and meets Jacob Palmer (Ryan Gosling), a single young player who helps him to get his life back on track. This movies also features stars like Emma Stone and Analeigh Tipton. Whichever movie you pick is sure to make your Valentine’s Day special.
