Homecoming Game
The Millbrook Wildcats faced the Wakefield Wolverines on Friday’s Homecoming match. The final score was 25-0, with the Wildcats taking the win. Notably, #3 Brilison McCullers scored two touchdowns and rushed 145 yards, now averaging 101.4 rushing yards per game. Millbrook’s third down conversion rate was 5-15 and Wakefield’s 2-12. Both Wakefield and Millbrook recorded three turnovers. Wakefield recorded two fumbles and Millbrook one, and Wakefield caught an interception and Millbrook caught two interceptions. Millbrook’s win has advanced them to an impressive 7-1 record during the 2024 season. Quarterback Bryson Gray who recorded 136 passing yards in the win against Wakefield shared, “In my opinion, I feel like the most important plays of the game came from the special teams, we had an important 2 point conversion after our first drive and then on a punt we caused a safety, which helped bring up the momentum of the team.” Kicker/punter Breyson Palmer recorded 244 kickoff yards during the game, and kicker/punter Angel Gomez-Corona recorded a point after touchdown kick.
The defense has also been important for Millbrook’s success so far this season, with players like the sophomore Quinton Cypher making a big impact. Middle linebacker Matthew Chapin shared, “When I think about the most important play of the game, you gotta think offensively, because defensively we’ve been extremely solid. When we made changes to put a player like Zaire [Hines] at receiver, his touchdown before halftime was definitely important. Also, the whole defense putting out a shutout deserves to be highlighted for sure.”
Millbrook football has just two games left in the regular season. On October 25, they will be at home playing Knightdale. Make sure to support your Wildcats as the 2024 season comes to a close!
