Spirit Week
Leading up to Friday of last week, Spirit Week has been one of the most anticipated events of the year! According to the Millbrook Executive Board Arts Committee Chair Audrey Williams, “This year’s homecoming theme was based around the Olympics because of the 2024 Olympics in Paris.”
Starting our Spirit Week, we had Snoop Dogg Day on Monday where students showed off their best sunglasses. Since Monday was a teacher workday, students and staff could send photos to the Millbrook Events page on Instagram.
Tuesday’s theme was Pajama Day! Many students wore their comfiest onesies and pajamas to stay cozy throughout the day. Senior Araina Camacho said, “It was fun! It gave me a chance to wear my Rilakkuma onesie!”
Wednesday’s theme was based on the color of the Olympic rings and divided by grade level. Freshmen wore yellow, sophomores wore green, juniors wore red, seniors wore blue, and administrators wore black.
Afterwards, we had the theme Dream Team for Thursday! Millbrook students and staff had the opportunity to show off their culture, dream career, or college!
Finally, showing off your finest Millbrook merch was on Friday, October 18th! The perfect way to end our Spirit Week and bring up school spirit for the football game later that night!
Pep Rally
Wildcats! Last Friday, October 18th, Millbrook hosted their annual pep rally! During second period, seniors and sophomores filled the large gymnasium with energy and Millbrook pride. Full of performances, games and righteous bragging, the pep rally had students and staff alike excited for the Friday night football game.
Performances included; African American dance team, Haitian dance team, Hispanic Heritage performances and the Millbrook cheerleaders. Each performance brought different energy, and you could see the hard work, effort, and dedication. Senior Aleeza Syed said, “I loved the performances…I didn’t get to go to the Hispanic Heritage performances, so I did enjoy seeing their performances! It made me proud to go to Millbrook.”
While we all thought the senior and sophomore pep rally was impressive, juniors and freshmen had additional portions, adding to the fun. They had an additional relay race and a shocking backwards dunk shot, where Coach Rise won a student $100, but during a double-or-nothing, the money was lost. Senior Miles Estep, who went to both pep rallies said, “Freshmen were full of energy, and there was a lot more excitement in the crowds.”
While the pep rally raised hype and excitement for all grade levels, they also wanted the hype to continue to the field. Students were encouraged to go to the game to cheer on the football players.
