Annaka Boyd has been recognized as an Outstanding Senior at Millbrook due to her remarkable dedication to academics, athletics, and leadership. Throughout her time at Millbrook, she has balanced a large academic workload by being a part of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program while excelling in extracurricular activities and sports. She is a part of Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) and is involved in many aspects within the organization. Boyd embodies the qualities of a well-rounded student with the pure amount of determination she puts forth to success. She is very respected and admired within the Millbrook community, making her very deserving of this.
Her time at Millbrook has been defined by a deep commitment to academic achievement. Boyd is the Co-Secretary and Co-Treasurer of the National Honors Society, and she devotes lots of time and effort into the club. She is also a member of the Math, French, and English Honor Society. Biology teacher Mrs. Clemmer said, “Annaka is very goal driven and puts a tremendous amount of effort into reaching her goals. I have enjoyed watching her succeed throughout her years at Millbrook and can’t wait to see what the future holds for her.” Clemmer’s words further show the positive impact she has made the past few years.
Annaka’s contributions extend far beyond just the classroom, she has been on the Women’s Varsity Soccer Team all four years. Her talent and work ethic have earned her All-Conference, All-Region, and All-Academic honors from freshman to junior year. Junior Emily Onesti said, “Annaka never fails to build us up and give us motivation. I look up to her, and she has taught me to play my best till the end of a game. Even in overtime after playing the whole game, she always gives it her all.” She truly is a great role model for those younger to see how to be a student-athlete and also have many other things going on. With her love for soccer she continues to stay involved in the sport and is a certified referee.
Annaka’s time in JROTC has been a key part of her high school experience, helping her grow as a leader and competitor. As the Company Commander Officer of Charlie Company, she has taken on major responsibilities. She is a dedicated member of the Raider Team, where teamwork and physical strength is tested. Being a part of this team has opened her eyes to new career paths and provided her with strong mentors who have helped her shape her future. She first joined her junior year and said, “If I could change one thing, I definitely would have joined JROTC earlier than I did. The people are amazing and push me each and every day.” She is also captain of the JROTC archery team, where they compete in matches.
Annaka founded the Aviation Club here at Millbrook and is the president. Her ambition and drive continue to go toward her dream of a career in aviation, and she is eager to take on the next chapter of her journey. Boyd’s advice to incoming freshmen is to “stay organized, be involved, and make the most of your years at Millbrook.”
When reflecting on her time at Millbrook Boyd cherishes the traditions and experiences that have shaped her. She is especially grateful for her involvement in Millbrook Executive Board (MEB); this club has allowed her to take part in planning school events. Being a leader is extremely important to Boyd, and she practices this in many ways, including being a part of the Peer Mentoringship Club. In this club she shares her experiences and helps to guide freshmen through whatever they need assistance with.
After she graduates from Millbrook she will be attending The Citadel, where she has a scholarship to play Division I (D-I) soccer. At The Citadel she will be majoring in Intelligence and Security Studies and is hoping to follow an aviation career. She is beyond deserving of this and will continue to be a good role model to the lowerclassmen at Millbrook! Congratulations Annaka!
