The National Achievers Society (NAS) aims to provide students of color with a place to thrive and succeed. The chapter is only available for sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Students are required to have at least a 3.0 GPA, and submit an application to be inducted into the society. NAS is offered at Millbrook and many other schools in Wake County. Leesville High School, Wakefield High School, Wake Forest High School, Rolesville High School, and Sanderson High School all have a chapter. The advisors for the NAS are Mrs. Wilkes, Mrs. Clarke, Mrs. Capers, and Mrs. Bartney. Mrs. Wilkes said, “NAS is important because it helps students of color get involved and get them prepared for college. It gives them service hours and supports them by giving them an environment with like minded people.”
NAS offers many great opportunities. The chapter collaborates with the National Honor Society (NHS) to administer Tutor Cats. Tutor Cats is a program that tutors students in many subjects at Millbrook. NAS and NHS members tutor the students. The program is held in Mrs. Wilkes classroom (room 3405) every Thursday from 6:30 AM to 7:15 AM. After school tutoring is also available for students who cannot arrive in the morning. The after school program is from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM in room 3408.
NAS also has field trips and service opportunities. The chapter meets once a month in room 3408. In every monthly meeting, they provide the students with service and volunteer opportunities. Every student is required to complete 15 hours of service each semester. The chapter participated in many service projects throughout the year. Members supervised activities at the fall festival at Friendship Chapel baptist Church, volunteered at the food bank, supervised activities at the Hunter Elementary School Spring Carnival, and adopted a family to donate gifts to. 2025-2026 club President Trung Le said, “I want to help Millbrook students get more involved in the community through service and leadership.”
The Chapter held elections for officer positions for the 2025-2026 school year on April 9. Trung Le and Kat Machado-Cruz are Co-Presidents, Agape Saburi is Vice president, Jacqueline Guifarro and Chantall Rodriguez are Social Media Liaisons, and Sinclaire McGlown is Community Service Chairperson. The NAS Leadership Committee includes all candidates that ran for an officer position. The Committee includes Allyson Gomez-Rosales, Kent Nguyen, Saihouna Jawara, and Kayden Simms.
