Creative Cats

Carson Weddle

Thomas Armstrong

Preparing for the Addams Family Musical, his junior year performance, Carson Weddle made his fourth appearance on the MHS main stage. His role as Gomez Addams is only one of the many roles he has taken on during his high school career!

Carson Weddle is one of the most well known creative cats in the Performing Arts Department. He works with both the Millbrook High School chorus program, as well as the drama program. After talking with Carson and some of his closest peers, it is evident that he is a truly outstanding member of the Millbrook community. His classmates have described him as a very gifted, friendly, humble, and an enthusiastic person. Kelly Garrett went as far to say that “Carson is one of my best friends. He has been one of my best friends since freshman year. He always makes me laugh; he is someone who works so, so hard and does not really ask for anything in return.” No matter who you talk to, it is obvious that Carson Weddle is an extraordinary student and friend.

From the moment he stepped on stage his freshman year, Carson proved himself to be an amazing performer. He takes part in the Millbrook Madrigals and has worked in over six mainstage  productions. His favorite and most memorable role was Charlie in Flowers For Algernon from the 2016-2017 school year, his junior year. When asked about Carson’s personality on and off of stage, senior, Anna Thomson, said, “Seeing his personality off-stage and seeing his personality on stage, I just think that his transition going from Carson Weddle to a different person is amazing!” Carson has also made his mark on the community, taking part in the North Carolina Opera and attending private voice lessons with Musicians Learning Center. Carson recalls his favorite memory on stage happened from his freshman year, when he sang with his brother, Jake Weddle, at the Dance and Drama Awards.

If you want to see Carson’s next performance at school, make sure to attend the MHS fall play, Neil Simon’s Fools, playing November 16, 17, and 18. You can also catch him in the December concert with the Millbrook Madrigals. Looking to the future, Carson would like to major in music and continue his passion throughout his life. When asked why he loves to perform, he simply responded, “I want to make other people happy… making other people happy makes me happy.”
