Multiple people are said to be dead after a shooting was reported at First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas, which is roughly 30 miles southeast of San Antonio. Wilson County Sheriff Joe Tackitt reports that a man walked into the church and open fired around 11:30 AM. According to police, the suspect was confronted after driving north into Guadalupe County, where it was unclear whether he was either shot by police or committed suicide.

Currently, the FBI Crisis Response Team is offering support to law enforcement, and the FBI will be aiding in recovering evidence to figure out what triggered the shooting. Neighbors of the church commented that normally around fifty people attend the Sunday morning service regularly, and numerous news outlets have reported at least twenty-six people died, with even more injured, one of the youngest victims being only two years old and another being the pastor’s fourteen year-old daughter. ABC news reports that this is the worst mass shooting in a place of worship.

Although President Trump is currently out of the country in Japan, he tweeted giving his condolences to the victims of the tragedy.
