Today, December 7, Senator Al Franken of Minnesota announced that he would resign after his support from Democrats came to an end after sexual harassment allegations were made against him. He is a part of the growing list of lawmakers being charged for sexual harassment or indiscretions. He told reporters his reason for resigning was because he did not think that he could both represent the state of Minnesota and pursue the investigation. Franken said that he would be out of office before the end of the year. Claims made against Franken shocked him and he challenged many of them, even stating that he did not do anything for which he should have been forced to resign. He made sure to mention President Trump and Senate candidate Roy Moore in statements, who have both been accused of sexual abuse. When leaving the Capitol, he informed reporters that he would be returning home to Minnesota.
