Yankees acquire Stanton
December 10, 2017
Yesterday the New York Yankees traded the Miami Marlins for all star outfielder Giancarlo Stanton. Stanton joins the Yankees as the reigning National League MVP and MLB home run leader. In exchange for Stanton the Marlins received Yankees’ second baseman Starlin Castro and two prospects. The trade is a full go once Stanton has undergone a physical and officially waived his no trade clause. He put the Yankees on a list of teams that he would accept a trade to, as well as he has had no injury concerns in the recent past, so this trade is all but certain to go through. As a result of this trade the Yankees, the team with the most home runs last year will be adding the player with the most home runs. This is the first time since 1919, when the Yankees traded for Babe Ruth, that the home run leader will join the team with the most homeruns.
