Unveiling the Consumer Electronics Show
January 14, 2018
The Consumer Electronics Show, or CES, is the largest technology show in the world, and was hosted from January 9 to January 12 in Las Vegas. It is all about the newest consumer technologies in this day and age. CES is produced and owned by the Consumer Technology Association, CTA, and draws in business leaders, inventors, and creative minds from all over the world. For the past 50 years CES has hosted numerous companies who show off their newest consumer technologies. This year, there were 184,000 people with 4,000 companies displaying their products. Additionally, there were 1,200 speakers, including Jim Hackett, the president and CEO of Ford Motor Company and Nancy Dubuc, the president and CEO of A+E Networks.
Every year, CES has shocked viewers with all of the newest technologies, but this year many impressive innovations were introduced. Some of the most talked about include helpful robots, flying taxis, a robot dog, an intelligent toilet, sex bots, and robot strippers. Now, do not get too excited about the flying taxi because Bell Helicopters, the company working on it, says the air taxi is still a work in progress. The smart toilet that was a hit at CES responds to Alexa, heats, flushes by itself, and lifts its seats on its own, just a part of the smart bathroom that Kohler has. Samsung unleashed a modular television, the first of its kind, nicknamed “The Wall” and measures 146 inches.
This spectacular show has introduced some of the most interesting technological creations of our day. Each year CES continues to thrill, and 2018 was certainly no exception.
