Barbara Bush dies at age 92
April 18, 2018
Barbara Bush died at the age of 92 on Tuesday, April 17. It was announced on Monday that Bush was ill and was not seeking medical treatment. Instead, she went back home to her family.
Mrs. Bush was the first lady of the US from 1989 to 1993, while her husband, George H.W. Bush was the 41st president. Mrs. Bush was known for her incredible faith, her pearls, and her signature white hair. She said that the white hair contributed to the notion that she was “everyone’s grandmother.” Her faith is what her family said most influenced her decision to not seek further medical care. She mentioned that she has no fear of death and was ready to be reunited with other deceased family members.
Mrs. Bush is the only woman in US history to live to see both her husband and her son sworn into the presidential office. She also took on the campaign to increase literacy rates while she was the First Lady and was largely successful with her goal.
