Former vice president and new democratic presidential candidate, Joe Biden has been in the media lately for many reasons. However, rather than it concerning his candidacy, it is about his past with current professor and lawyer Anita Hill. Twenty-eight years ago, Hill accused Clarence Thomas, former President George Bush’s Supreme Court nominee, of sexual harassment. At the time, Joe Biden was a chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee and skimmed through the information given, and as a result, Thomas was still appointed to the Supreme Court. Before his presidential announcement, Biden called Ms. Hill to apologize to her, but she has not forgiven him. The main reason why Hill has not forgiven Biden is because another man, Justice Brett Kavanaugh, just like Clarence Thomas, was also appointed to the Supreme Court. Also concerning Ms. Hall, is the fact that in the past the former vice president has also been accused of touching women in inappropriate ways. Since his talk with Anita Hall, Biden is not satisfied with her response to his apology yet still moves forward with his presidential campaign.

While on The View, Biden had a lot to say about the way America is currently being led, such as the rest of the world looking at the United States in confusion and shock due to recent changes such as making deals with North Korea and building a wall. Many know that Joe Biden served under the Obama administration for both terms; however, he does not plan on having the former president endorse his campaign in order to prevent biased votes due to their close relationship. Furthermore, also on The View, Biden speaks of the Obama administration avoiding scandals, with the exception of that which involved Hillary Clinton, unlike the Trump administration who has had plenty. In his campaign announcement video, he refers to the incident that dealt with hate crimes, which took place in August 2017, of klansmen, neo-nazi’s and other groups protested with tiki torches and in the end one woman lost her life. Seeing that this had been a sign that the United States was changing for the worse, Biden believes he would have reacted completely differently, and with him in office this would be prevented. Nonetheless, President Donald Trump’s only response to this situation was to tweet that both sides had great people without addressing the actual problem at hand. One of the major points in Biden’s campaign is that America is at its turning point, and it needs to change for the better. Biden adds that in the future, many will look back on Donald Trump’s four years of his presidential term and the bad decisions he has made while in office. Biden also adds that if Trump gets to serve another term, the United States will be changed for the worst, especially due to not being seen as liberty and justice being carried out. After hesitating to join the presidential race for a while, Biden decided to take action to get the United States back to its former glory and with his leadership on the chance that he wins this political race.
