Exploring the Arts as a Media Career
January 26, 2022
Interested in learning art techniques, photoshop, and animation? The Digital Media Career Academy is just for that. The Academy (DMCA) is a program that provides opportunities for students who want to go into the field of art. From learning basic art techniques to mastering programs like photoshop, the DMCA allows students to explore a wide variety of subjects that are beneficial for the future. Just like the IB program, the DMCA program is a place where students create goals they want to achieve, and there are specific classes to make that happen. These classes include Art, English, Animation, and Digital art. These classes go towards creating things with photoshop or making movies and shows. At the end of the program, students also receive another diploma when they graduate, which is also appealing to colleges and jobs of interest.
The DMCA is also a great way to meet new people, especially those with the same interests. Sophomore Nickolas Rivera says, “I like the community in the program and I got to meet a lot of new people which made the classes better.” The program connects all of the students which really enhances the classroom environment. In the DMCA, most students are amazed at all the cool features of the websites used in the program. One common website used is Adobe, a set of applications and services by Adobe Incorporated that gives users a collection of softwares for graphic designing, video editing, photography, web development, and more. Sophomore Caleb Williams, says, “I think people would like making things with Adobe. At first, it might not be as interesting, but then when you figure it out, then it’s awesome to use.” Students can create a lot of their own artwork using Adobe.
The DMCA is a great program where students get the opportunity to partake in classes they are interested in and have a chance to build strong relationships which can help benefit their future! Millbrook is having a curriculum fair held on February 10, which will have additional information about the program. Students can also go to any staff member such as Ms. Kaushik, the DMCA director, for information too.
