Maggie Quinn is the prime example of a leader at Millbrook. As a senior in the IB program, Maggie is a member of the French Honors Society, an athlete on Millbrook’s Varsity Women’s Golf team, and Section Leader for the altos in Millbrook’s highest level of choir, the Madrigals!

When Cat Talk asked Maggie how she got into music, she stated that she comes from a family very heavily involved in music: “My mom is a great singer and did choir and piano when she was younger, and my dad played guitar and sang as well. My dad and uncle used to write music and perform! I remember going to their shows when I was little.”

Millbrook choir is currently working on “Soon We Will Be Done,” “Sing My Child,” and “Wild Mountain Thyme.” This exemplary senior explains that she enjoys working on these songs because they help push the choir to tune better and to listen to other voice parts.

When it comes to leading the altos, Maggie was chosen by her previous section leader, which is a “huge honor and responsibility” says Mr. Adams, Millbrook’s choir teacher. “In our advanced groups, we have appointed students who help lead and teach the other singers- no small task.”

When asked what it’s like to have Maggie in choir, Mr. Adams tells Cat Talk, “It is a dream to have Maggie in class. She is a model student. She works hard, is exceptionally capable, curious, and most importantly, she cares deeply for each individual and the collective mission of the ensemble.” Mr. Adams also recounts how having this outstanding student in his class is both humbling and inspiring.

This Wildcat has many accomplishments outside of Millbrook as well. This past summer, she participated in the prestigious North Carolina Governor’s School Program, which is a four-week summer program for gifted and talented high school students. When asked what Maggie does outside of music, she tells Cat Talk, “I am on the Millbrook Womenś Golf Team and I dance classical ballet with a studio in Raleigh. I am in multiple National Honors clubs which I have a lot of fun in. I also love to longboard and go for long drives while listening to music!” After graduation, senior Maggie Quinn explains, “While I don’t know whether or not I will major in music, I know that I’d like to continue to stay involved in choir and will most likely be a part of a college choir. ”

Be sure to come see Maggie and the rest of Millbrook’s choir perform in their winter recital on December 13th, 2022!
