By now you definitely know of the very famous couple, Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber. Many people were disappointed about their break up in 2018. Neither of them have ever come out and publicly talked about their breakup until now. Selena Gomez released her Apple TV+ documentary: My Mind & Me, where she finally opens up and talks about her breakup with Beiber.

Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez broke up permanently in 2018. But only months later Justin Bieber got married to model, Hailey Baldwin. Gomez says the whole thing was extremely public and that “I felt haunted by a past relationship that no one wanted to let go of. Then I moved past it and I wasn’t afraid anymore.” Gomez looks back on this breakup and says “but I just think that needed to happen and ultimately it was the best thing that ever happened to me.” Soon after she decides to come to terms with her feelings. She partners up with Julia Michaels and Justin Tranter. Together they ended up writing the song “Lose You to Love Me.” This song only took 45 minutes to write and was the fastest song Gomez has ever written. She wants people to know that this song isn’t only about losing someone you love but rediscovering and learning to love yourself.

In her documentary she brings up a time in 2016 where John Janick, the head of her record label, asks her to collaborate with Beiber. This causes her to break down because she doesn’t want to disappoint the head of her record label but she also wants to be her own person and not have to always be associated with someone else. She worried that she isn’t good enough by herself.

Gomez states that there are no hard feelings between her and the Biebers. About a month ago, pictures came out of Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber hanging out together at the Academy Museum Gala. When Gomez was questioned about the pictures in an interview she stated, “Yeah, it’s not a big deal. It’s not even a thing.” One takeaway from this public breakup could be life’s lessons can be hard and painful but you can come out happier on the other side.
