The Extravagance of the Extended Essay is Honored
December 8, 2022
If you’re an International Baccalaureate (IB) student or friends with one, you certainly know what EE stands for. The Extended Essay of course! It is a research paper that IB students work on during their Junior and Senior years. The research done is unique to each and every student, due to the fact that they are given close to complete freedom in choosing their subject and research question.
On Thursday, Dec. 1, Millbrook IB students took part in the EE Extravanganza, the first in the last three years at Millbrook. Parents, students, and teachers were all invited to participate in the festivities of the all-day event. The eight-minute presentation from each student encompassed the research process and found information about their essay. A recollection of the ups and downs of creation, investigation, and overall process was shared by the students presenting. IB Juniors were also invited to join in on the fun, learning more about the EE from their senior peers. Junior Jocelyn Rubio described senior Grace Moffat’s presentation as “emotional and passionate” and that she “can tell she prepared a lot.”
The IB program prides itself on the community that it creates and how close the students become through their education. The IB community was recognized by parent Stephanie Sumner, who noticed the students “unique support for one another” and also pointed out specific presentations from Samuel Baggett and Reese Stoner in which they “offered advice to upcoming seniors.”
It is safe to say that the IB Program is a special one, which can be seen simply through the EE Extravaganza. The amazing opportunity that the EE Extravanganza is, shows the value that the program contains.
