Goldsboro police are investigating a shooting that happened inside the Riddle and Brantley law firm in Goldsboro. The shooting happened on Monday, Dec. 19 before 4:15 p.m. Investigators say that two bodies were found in the office.

  The victim of the shooting has been identified as Patrick White who is 42 years old. He is a lawyer from Raleigh. Police suspect that the shooter was Francisco Sanchez who is 46 years old. He is from Greenville. 

  Police suspect that Sanchez shot and killed White and then shot and killed himself. 

  Sanchez and his wife, ​​Crystal Guerrero, had both come to the law office around 9:30 a.m. for a mediation. White was the attorney of the Sanchez/Guerrero case. Attorney Gene Riddle, alongside a mediator, was also at the scene assisting with the mediation 

  The meeting went very smoothly. Everyone involved in the mediation came to conclusions and seemed to be content with the outcomes a little after 4:00 p.m. After the mediation, Guerrero requested to talk to Sanchez alone. During this time Riddle, White, and the mediator went to another office in the building.

  After the couple talked for a few seconds, Riddle said that he saw Sanchez walking toward him and he heard gunshots. 

  Sanchez then made his way to White who was near them, he attempted to stop Sanchez from shooting but was shot while doing so.

  Riddle went to search for his daughter who he thought was in the law firm, during his search for her he saw Sanchez standing in the reception area and he told him to leave. 

  As he continued looking for his daughter and praying for Patrick knowing that he was going to die, he heard another gunshot.

  He found that Sanchez shot himself in the head.

  Riddle was next to White calling 911 as he took his last breaths.

  Patrick White’s death impacted many people. On Tuesday morning, the day after the shooting flowers were laid outside the law firm.

  Patrick White lived in Northwest Raleigh and had a wife and two young children. He has practiced law since 2005 as a personal injury attorney. He mainly handled cases that involved car crashes.
