A String of Revivals
February 24, 2023
Trending on TikTok, Instagram and some news sources, a revival at Asbury University has led many other parts of the country to continue in its footsteps. On February 8, a regularly scheduled church service was held at Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky, beginning with 20 students worshiping following the sermon. Pastor Zak Meerkreebs, led his sermon by telling the students to “become the love of God by experiencing the love of God,” in order for God to revive them by his love.
Students continued to worship hours after the sermon ended, praying over themselves and one another. Eventually faculty and staff members joined in, as well as people from the nearby community. Days after the service, the worship was still fully in motion and brought in people from other areas of Kentucky and other states, to join the revival. Many people on social media have explained the event as being a place where they are encouraged to fulfill God’s love for them and spread it to others. Those who have shared their experiences in the revival shared that the place was filled with a “sweet presence,” “deep peace” and “the quiet, heavy presence of God.”
After a few days of the revival continuing, it started trending on TikTok, leading its way onto Instagram to attract more believers. Not only did more people begin to arrive at the Asbury revival, universities and cities started to begin their own revivals. Samford University, Lee University, and Cedarville University are a few of the places that the revival has spread to.
The revival lasted for two weeks, but in its absence, more places are continuing the worship and prayers to keep spreading the Gospel to more places of the country. Currently the revival is occurring in 20+ colleges, keeping the faith and belief in how the revivals can help turn more people to God for help with all their needs.
