Senior Matthew Digby is very involved in many aspects at Millbrook. Matthew is a student-athlete, Vice President of FFA, Best Buds leader, and Younglife student leader. Matthew has also been inducted into the National Honors Society and is on both the Varsity Lacrosse team and the Pickleball Club. Working part-time at ZincHouse located in Durham, NC, not many people can balance school work and having a job.
Matthew shows great leadership on both the lacrosse field and in the classroom. Matthew has been on the Varsity Men’s Lacrosse team for all four years of highschool. He was chosen as a captain for his junior year season and upcoming senior year season.
Lacrosse teammate and Senior Nick Van Kula commented, “Matthew has been a good teammate and friend to me throughout the years. He always helps lift us all up whenever we are down or just need the motivation.”
While having practices and games every weekday during the spring season Matthew is able to maintain good grades, never having below an A, demonstrating his drive for success. When asked about what teacher has impacted him the most Matthew said, “Mr. Berglund has helped me immensely throughout my time at Millbrook. He has taught me many technical skills such as welding and small engine repair. He has also taught me how to be a better leader and work efficiently. Without his guidance I would not be where I am.”
With a positive connection with a teacher who helped guide him, Matthew built more relationships with teachers. History teacher Mr. Haynes commented, “I had Matthew for Civics his Sophomore year and he is an exceptional student who maintained a high A average. He was also working and playing sports which was very impressive.”
The Millbrook community is grateful to have a student, friend, and teammate like Matthew. He has done community service for Millbrook by participating in Dana King Day of Service numerous times. Digby said “I’ve enjoyed participating in Dana King’s Day of Service. Making a difference around our community at school is something I am proud of.”
Matthew Digby exemplifies the qualities of a dedicated student, athlete, and leader. His ability to balance academics, sports, leadership roles, and a job is a testament to his time management skills and determination. Matthew’s commitment to excellence both on the lacrosse field and in the classroom has earned him the respect of his peers and teachers.
