Is the blue in you this spirit week?

Welcome back, Wildcats! With the new school year comes another chance to welcome in the Maniac pride and boost school spirit. The first chance for everyone at MHS to show their inner Maniac in the school wide Spirit Week. From October 2-6, students and faculty can dress up and bring their inner Wildcat out. Even though you are allowed to dress up for this week, there are some rules you need to follow. For starters, all school/county dress codes must be followed throughout the week. This includes appropriate school clothing, a restriction on masks, and no vulgar language or inappropriate graphics. There are also multiple rules that go along with each day specifically, but that is to come later. Without a doubt, this year’s Spirit Week is sure to be a blast!

Starting on Monday, October 2, Mardi Gras Monday kicks off this week with a great start. You can wear anything green, purple, or gold! If you don’t have any kinds of beads at home, there will be some MEB representatives handing out beads to anyone who asks in the Senior Lounge. Remember though, there are only a limited amount available, so arrive early. The only extra rule is that you cannot wear anything that will cover your full face.

The next day is Backwards Tuesday, and following that we have Woke Up Like This Wednesday. Backwards Tuesday means that you can wear all your clothes backwards, or you can go “backwards” in time, like a throwback. Some ideas could be to wear your normal clothes backwards (including your backpack), or wearing some 80’s rock attire. Woke Up Like This Wednesday is just as it sounds; you are supposed to wear what you woke up in. Think about it like pajama day, just with a different name! Whatever you wear Wednesday, make sure it is comfortable enough to keep on for the Powderpuff game after school at 4:30!

Jungle Takedown Thursday takes place on October 5, with students showing their jungle cat side. You can dress up like a jungle animal or a tourist roaming around the jungle. It is just like Tourist Tuesday from previous years, but now with an animal twist. An amazing costume idea is an animal onesie, or wearing binoculars, a touristy shirt, and some sunglasses; anything to make you look like you are on vacation.

Finally, with game day comes Blue and White Friday. This is the perfect day to “spirit out”! It is your chance to deck out in blue and white to show your Maniac spirit. For inspiration from previous years, check out the picture included to give you three great ideas. The best from that year was having a cape, senior crown, and being covered in MHS spirit wear or colors. Make sure to end this week with a bang so we can show up the opposing team at the homecoming game that night. So Maniacs, how are you gonna show your Wildcat pride this Spirit Week?
