The nights are getting longer, the temperature is dropping, and the season is changing just like the clothes we wear. As autumn begins to come back, leggings, booties, and over-sized sweaters are hitting the sales floor. Let us throw on those sweaters and leggings and hit the mall to get started on our must haves for our autumn wardrobe.

A big trend for this season is dark, bold colors. Maroon is the most popular of these colors. This dark purple color goes great with the browns, blacks, and dark reds that have become the reoccurring color scheme of fall. At the Harper’s Bazaar party during New York Fashion Week, Katy Perry performed wearing an autumn inspired dress full of all the colors for the season including maroon. This awesome purple can go with anything including light or dark jeans, leggings, or almost any shade of brown and red.  Senior Sam Thomas tells us, “Maroon is a fun fall color that matches the season perfectly.” You can see her styling maroon almost any day of this season.

Blanket scarves are the accessory to have this season. These scarves work as an awesome accessory but can also keep you warm with the temperature dropping. Blanket scarves come in many different colors from darks to lights. They are also universal, so men can wear them too. Women can style them by wrapping the scarf completely around their necks and allowing a corner to hang low. Men wear this trendy style by throwing it on their backs as an extra layer to their outfit or drape it around their necks. This is a seasonal trend that works for anyone in different ways.

Ever want to get the sneaky look like the cast of Pretty Little Liars or the detective look like Agent 007? Well, now is your chance. Trench coats are back; I repeat, trench coats are back! This is the style many people have been waiting to make a comeback. They make any outfit look official, and they are a wonderful fall coat since they are not too heavy like a winter jacket. A trench coat goes with jeans, leggings, or dress pants for men and women. It can be used to go out shopping, for upcoming Christmas photos, or just strutting your stuff down the halls of Millbrook. They can also go with any shoe like heels, flats, Sperry’s, or men’s dress shoes. Any color combination works with a trench coat as well. Trench coats are a must have for any person looking to impress.

Even though it is not quite time for Ugg boots and parkas, there are many cute styles for autumn. You can dress up with a cute basic fall colored dress and brown riding boots. You can even dress down with jeans, a white V-neck, a pair of brown flats, and a light weight olive colored jacket. Senior Marianne Valino tells us about how she loves to start wearing her favorite sweaters in autumn. She says, “Sweaters are so great and comfy because they have so much room, and whenever I wear one, I just feel warm and it makes me want to take a nap!”  Many styles work for autumn, but it is important to find your autumn style that works best for you and shows the world who you are. Any outfit that fits who you are is the top style for this autumn season. May the temperature drop, the nights get longer, and the coats get thicker this autumn.
