North Carolina just held their annual state fair. Loved and visited by many, this two-week event brings games, prizes, and most importantly, food. From a wide variety of choices, the NC State Fair had 72 new foods and vendors along with the old and beloved being brought back from past years. From traditional turkey legs to bizarre flavors like bacon ice cream, this is a small guide into this two-week event’s best and worst choices.
Starting off the list on a high note is the classic funnel cake. Sold by almost every vendor at the event, these are easy to find, and even easier to eat. This fried dough is made from a simple batter of flour, eggs, sugar, and milk, and can be topped with powdered sugar to give it an even sweeter flavor. While this is the normal funnel cake, there were also ones with chips and chocolate as toppings at the fair. This is a buy for its reliability and customizability.
