Millbrook Chronicles is a TikTok and Instagram account created by Jaden Smith. During his freshman year in 2023, Jaden began combining videos of his friends doing casual things in and outside of Millbrook High School, and turning them into videos similar to full episodes. Starting with an opening scene and a clever intro, it features a montage of short clips grouped with a beat.
Marcelo Chitty, a prominent figure in the group, describes it as a “collection of moments hanging out with the bros.” Chitty also added, “There is a lot of talking mess and even more laughing. I look forward to being an old head and looking back at these memories and laughing all over again.”
Although Smith wishes to study and pursue dentistry, his hobby of capturing exciting moments of his friend group and editing them into TikToks has turned into something greater. Allowing Millbrook students to stay up to date with the greatest highlights from school sports events, mainly football and basketball. No clip is like the other, each filled with spontaneous actions by Smith’s friends. Whether it’s clever line delivery or a ridiculous action done purely to entertain each other.
In an exclusive interview with the Millbrook Cat Talk, Jaden Smith shared his purpose behind the account, “Millbrook Chronicles is just a fun thing that my friends and I started. We recorded videos of us doing casual around-school activities and going to events so I began to edit them in a funny way. I’m grateful that people enjoy my friends and I just being ourselves. Our initial intention wasn’t to go viral or anything, it just happened suddenly. The content was never planned, and I recorded things that happened on the spot.”
The Chronicles group is doing something right since they have amassed five million cumulative views from TikTok and over 300,000 views from Instagram! Smith described his family to be in awe when the account started going viral. Triston Tucker, another member of the Chronicles group, appreciates his friend’s cleverness and dedication to creating these videos through his creativity.
Smith describes his first time going viral as “unexpected.” He said, “I posted the video before I went to sleep, and I woke up to 300,000 views. It took only a few days for it to reach one million views on TikTok. I was really proud at that moment and felt like my friends and I definitely did something there, just a really good overall feeling of fulfillment.” Marcelo Chitty added, “To be honest I was surprised but it was pretty cool too. I still get surprised when I am out and people stop me to say ‘hey, you’re on Millbrook Chronicles!”
Although this is Smith’s first rodeo with social media, the account even became a source of profit, generating a few thousand dollars per viral video through the TikTok Creator Fund. Smith shared his secret to maintaining a successful streak with the algorithm, “I make sure to always post between twelve and four p.m., mostly during weekends too. That’s when viewers are guaranteed to engage with the videos and give us a lot of views.”
Smith also shared, “My favorite moment would be the time my friend Jarvis tried to get a girl’s number at a Millbrook football game, then my other friend Salim started crying and it just went absolutely viral. The whole video just has great comedic timing and did really great on TikTok.” Marcelo Chitty added: “I have a lot of favorite moments, but my top would be that mean slap to Tyson’s neck. The sting on that though!”
Millbrook Chronicles centers around clips of Jaden Smith (the editor/creator) and his friends at sporting events or even during casual hangouts. They have made a great impact on the TikTok and Millbrook community. Millbrook students vigorously tune into each video and impatiently anticipate the next release, while students from other high schools tune in for any kind of insight into what happens at Millbrook. The Cat Talk applauds Jaden on his impressive social media journey.
