The Women’s Lacrosse team is a great team that shows sportsmanship on. and off the field

The women’s varsity Lacrosse team has had an outstanding season so far and is a team that represents some of the best Millbrook athletics has to offer. Right now they are ranked 4th in the Conference so far with a season record of 5-7 a. The girls are hoping to defeat Fike on Tuesday  as well as take victory over Hunt this Thursday to make their record an even 7-7.

A special event for the Women’s Lacrosse team is the Multiple sclerosis (MS) awareness match.  For the past three years the team has done a match to honor and raise awareness for MS which was inspired by the Women’s Leesville lacrosse coach who was diagnosed with the disease. The team wears orange jerseys in support of MS and does  t-shirt sales as well as a 50/50 raffle to raise money. This year $150 was raised and donated to a local chapter of the MS foundation. The team did not get a chance to play against Leesville this year and played the game against Wake Forest.

Senior Sophie Kline is playing lacrosse for the first time this year. “I was a swimmer all my life and I’ve never had the opportunity to be a part of a team, and this year when I decided not to swim anymore I just wanted to try something new,” she explains. “The coaches do a really great job of ‘recruiting’ and making you feel welcome and encouraging you to try out even if you’re new. I’ve learned so much this year being brand new and I am so appreciative of them for giving me the opportunity to be on the team.” Junior Ava Tate also talked about her love for the team: “I love being on the women’s lacrosse team because of the family that is created on and off the field. All of the girls are extremely supportive of each other and we always recognize each other’s accomplishments.”

The team plays Heritage next week, on Tuesday April 25, Terry Sanford on Wednesday April 26, and Willow Spring Thursday April 27. As these Lady Wildcats wrap up their season be sure to come out and support our hard working wildcats and cheer them on to a great season finish! Wishing the best of luck to our Women’s Varsity Lacrosse team!
