Disney has announced over a dozen new major film titles set for release throughout 2026 and into 2027. On Thursday, April 16, Walt Disney Studios closed out CinemaCon 2026. According to an article from the Walt Disney Company, they introduced both filmmakers and stars who represent some of their most famous titles. Disney started by presenting a short reel that introduced the upcoming films, before greeting the audience of over 4,000 CinemaCon members who attended this year’s event.
At the beginning of the presentation, Disney Entertainment Chairman Alan Bergman noted the three biggest Hollywood movies of 2025 that were produced by Walt Disney Studios: ‘Zootopia 2’, ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’, and ‘Lilo and Stitch’. An article from Walt Disney Company reports that these three major successes have allowed the studio to successfully maintain its No. 1 spot in the global box office for nine years, earning a total of over $6 billion globally, 2 billion dollars more than its competitors.
Walt Disney Studios highlighted about 14 new films in their 2026 to 2027 movie release lineup. A list of upcoming Disney films from IMDb shows that the studio has already released Hoppers, starring protagonist Mabel Tanaka, voiced by actress Piper Curda. Hoppers follows the story of a “A 19-year-old animal lover uses technology that places her consciousness into a robotic beaver to uncover mysteries within the animal world beyond her imagination,” according to a summary from IMDb.
Disney movies with a confirmed release date throughout the rest of 2026 include “Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu’, whose release date is May 22, “Toy Story 5’, set to release Jun 19, the live action retelling of ‘Moana’, releasing on July 10, and ‘Spiderman: Brand New Day’, on July 31. There are two other films expected to be released in 2026, Disney’s ‘Hexed’ on Nov 25, and ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ on Dec 18, but their release dates are not set in stone.
Marvel Studios, owned by Disney, has announced a new immersive cinematic experience alongside its two upcoming films. This experience is called ‘Infinity Vision’, a “…new certification for premium large format (PLF) theaters. Done in collaboration with global theatrical exhibition partners, Infinity Vision will signify to audiences which auditoriums offer the biggest, brightest, and most immersive cinematic experiences,” according to The Walt Disney Company.
Infinity Vision is a certification that will set a new benchmark for theaters, focusing on large theater screens, premium audio and laser projection, for brightness and clarity. A statement from ABC Eyewitness News says that Infinity Vision will begin with showing the re-release of “Avengers: Endgame’ on Sep 25.
Looking further into 2027, Walt Disney Studios has announced around seven new films set to release. The movie lineup will begin with the release of Ice Age: Boiling Point, whose release date is said to be Feb 5 as of now. Although Disney shut down Blue Sky Studios, the company’s animation division that created the Ice Age franchise, the series will be continued, and this new release will be animated by 20th Century Animation instead, according to Mickey Visit.
The other movie releases set for 2027, based off of the list made by IMDb, include ‘Gatto’, set to release Mar 5, ‘Star Wars: Starfighter’, expected on May 28, ‘The Bluey Movie’, currently expected Aug 6, ‘Frozen III’, on Nov 24, and both ‘Star Wars: New Jedi Order’, and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’, the movie that will allow the Marvel Cinematic Universe to reset, on Dec 17.
From releasing sequels and timeless Disney classics to the promise of long-awaited Marvel films, the announced lineup of Walt Disney Studios’ movies at CinemaCon was both successful and exciting, leaving many fans anticipating the release of upcoming Disney films.
