If there’s one person whose love life is guaranteed to be widely speculated about, it’s Taylor Swift. After her breakup with long-term boyfriend Joe Alwyn in April of this year, new details about potential partners have rippled through the media. 

  In June, Swift was rumored to have had a fling with the controversial 1975 lead singer, Matty Healy. Recently, though, a new potential boyfriend has sprung into the conversation. Travis Kelce, a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, expressed his interest in Swift in late July of this year. 

 On the podcast he co-hosts with his brother called  “New Heights,” Kelce stated that he went to one of her shows and participated in the fan tradition of making friendship bracelets. His bracelet had his phone number on it, and he was disappointed he didn’t get to give it to Swift. Kelce’s interest is no longer one sided, since on September 24, we got direct confirmation of the pairing having some sort of involvement with each other. 

  That day, Swift attended the Kansas City Chiefs’ third game of the season, which was against the Chicago Bears. She had a very special seat in the audience. Swift was seen in a suite with Donna Kelce, Travis Kelce’s mother, laughing and enjoying the game. When Kelce scored a touchdown in the third quarter, Swift was seen exclaiming and banging her hands on the glass excitedly. Are they just new friends, or does Swift’s closeness to his family suggest something more? “I don’t think Taylor and Travis are dating yet, but it’s definitely a possibility,” says Sarah Tanner, a junior here at Millbrook who is a huge fan of Swift.

  On October 1, Swift attended a second Kansas City Chiefs game, this one being against the NY Jets. Actors Ryan Renyolds, Blake Lively, and Hugh Jackman were also in attendance with Swift. During the game, she was seen with her arm around Donna Kelce as well as chatting with Brittany Mahomes, the wife of the Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. 

  Clearly, Swift has acquainted herself with members of the Chiefs’ inner circle. Considering Travis Kelce’s initial flirtations in July and how close Swift is with Momma Kelce, the rumors of dating have begun. So far, neither of them have confirmed anything. However, Kelce has made recent comments about Swift on his podcast, stating that family and friends “had nothing but great things to say about her” after she attended his game. So far, neither party of the possible romance have confirmed that it is in fact in a romance, and based on Kelce stating  “Everything moving forward, I think me talking about sports and saying all right now will have to be kind of where I keep it,” when asked by his brother the details about him and Swift’s association, we can assume that a verbal confirmation isn’t in the cards soon. 

“I think if Taylor and Travis date, they’re a good fit. Because they both come from different areas of fame, they would be able to keep it real with each other,” says Riley Dunton, a senior who was a fan of both Kelce and Swift before the dating rumors.
