What: Service Club is an honorary society at Millbrook that recognizes juniors, seniors, and faculty that have given their time, energy, and efforts in order to make Millbrook a better place. Service club’s goal is to recognize students and faculty in every department and area of the school that provide outstanding service. Applicants who have volunteered and led extensively at Millbrook in a single area or in several areas will be considered. Applicants should have gone over and above their job or leadership position.

Who: The current faculty members are Paula Abbott, Emily Belcher, Jennifer Broadwell, Jessica Collins, Jill Drabot, Lauren Genesky, Chris East, Lisa Ellstrom, Emily Fonke, Austin James, Beth Keefer, Danny Kotzian, Mary Beth Putnam, Deborah Robinson, and Scott Saby. The current student members are Tyler Eckert, Jenna McMains, Emily Stine, and Katie Tart.

Where: Current members are from a wide range of Millbrook activities, but they all share one common theme: outstanding service to Millbrook. Senior Katie Tart said when interviewed, “I think my devotion to yearbook was the thing that got me in. Last year as sports editor I stayed after school multiple days every week to make sure that the yearbook would be printed on time. I had to balance my commitment to yearbook with a job and class council, but I genuinely enjoy yearbook, so it was easy putting in extra hours to work on something I love.”

Why: Fellow student member, senior Emily Stine, when asked what she thinks made her eligible for service club says, “I spend a lot of time at school trying to help out where I can, and I think people nominated me because of that and how proud I am to be a Wildcat. The student body should be encouraged to nominate peers and teachers for this incredible honor because they deserve to be applauded.” Faculty inductee, Ms. Emily Fonke said, “It is really nice to be recognized, and it is important for students and faculty to think about who works hard to serve Millbrook and then nominate them. It only takes a few minutes and the people who pour so much into MHS deserve to be recognized.”

When: Nominations are due this Thursday, March 3, 2016, by 3pm to room 1411 to Mrs. Putnam. Nomination forms can be found in the main office, student services, and room 1411. Nominations can be made by any student or faculty member. Candidates can also self nominate. The application involves a brief narrative describing the specific outstanding service as well as a service focused resume highlighting athletic, club, fine arts, and student government membership and leadership.
