On October 25, Andrew Reddix was released from jail on a one-thousand dollar bond. Reddix is an eighteen-year-old who attended North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in Greensboro. He was charged with eight counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and one count of exploitation.

On July 7, Virginia police received a report about a twelve year old that had been blackmailed by a man attending North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. The parents of the young girl said that their daughter had been coerced into sending nude photos and videos through the once popular app called Musical.ly. The man, Andrew Reddix, had pretended to be a bisexual girl named Hannah on the app. This allowed him to easily blackmail the Virginia girl. However, Reddix maintained his actual identity as he and the girl Facetimed, and she even told him about her problems online. The entire time, she did not know that she was talking to her blackmailer.
