On November 5, 13-year-old Hania Aguilar was kidnapped from a mobile home park in Lumberton, North Carolina, where she was visiting a relative. Police reported that she was grabbed by a man and forced into a SUV, which was later recovered miles south of where she was abducted. Despite searches by family and police, she was not found until this past Tuesday, when her body was discovered in a body of water about ten miles away from the mobile home park. Both the local police and Charlotte FBI were a part of the team that looked for Hania.

The FBI has stated that the preliminary tests have confirmed that the body belongs to Hania Aguilar. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of her death.

Lumberton Police Chief Michael McNeill held a press conference on Wednesday, and he expressed his sorrow to Hania’s family. So far there are no reported suspects.
