Under the Friday Night Lights, Millbrook students waved their flashlights as they sang along to “STAY” by The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber. The game ended with a score of 49-9, securing yet another win for Millbrook’s football season.

Last night, the 2021-2022 Millbrook Homecoming Court was announced during half-time at Millbrook’s home football game against Sanderson. The announcement was met with high anticipation from an enthusiastic student section, roaring with excitement as each Mr. Millbrook and Homecoming Princess were crowned. When the winner for Homecoming Queen was revealed, the crowd exploded with cheers and applause.

Earlier this week, Millbrook students came to school dressed up for the following spirit day themes: Mixed-Up Monday, Tie-Dye Tuesday, Ages Wednesday, Childhood TV Show Thursday, and Blue and White Friday. Despite not having an after-game homecoming dance, Millbrook Executive Board and Class Council still dedicated several after-school hours to creating hallway decorations, plastering the walls of the main building with principals’ faces, dance floors, and disco balls.

By Friday afternoon, students were ready to end the week with a night full of screaming for their school’s team. Senior Elaina Bergett said, “My favorite part of homecoming week is the football game. We all get together to support our school and have fun doing it!” The stands are always full of energetic students who take pride in their school’s success out on the field. In previous years, the homecoming football theme has always been blue and white out. Elaina said, “Everyone always goes all out for football games, but for homecoming, it is on a whole new level, nothing but blue and white.” She was right. Students came decked out in their blue and white outfits, showing off their school spirit.

As routine for electing homecoming court, the entire student body had the opportunity to nominate their desired Mr. Millbrook and Homecoming Princess for each graduating class, and Homecoming Queen only for the senior class. As tradition, the school hosted a private ceremony for all homecoming court nominees and their families before the game. Each grade level’s nominees took a picture to include in the school yearbook. Then, nominees were escorted by their families onto the football field where they waited for the winners to be revealed. Congratulations to all of the homecoming court winners!
