With the heated rivalry between the Millbrook Wildcats and Heritage Huskies, the women’s volleyball  4A Northern Athletic Conference (NAC) conference championship was destined to be a good one. I was courtside at the event and had a chance to talk with sophomore and a big supporter of our lady Wildcats, Breyson Palmer. When asked about a score prediction he said, “We are going to win, easily! While Heritage may be good, we are better. We are already 9-0 in the conference so why can’t we make it 10-0? We are sweeping them, it’s that simple.” Palmer’s prediction would come to life as the Lady Cats win all 3 of their sets against the Huskies, sweeping the floor for the victory.

Next up for Millbrook is the state playoffs. They are now 24-1 overall and 10-1 in the conference, ranked #2 in the state. With how things look, the Wildcats are bound for a deep run and a chance to win it all. I got the chance to talk to star  Millbrook volleyball player, Kiki Horne about what her goals are for this season and how she thinks the team stacks up against the competition. “Our goal for the end of the season is to walk out of that gym with a ring on our finger!” She also referenced Coach Steven reiterating, “Beating Heritage was just one step towards the endgame!” With the most recent playoff victory on October 22nd,  sweeping the Jordan Falcons, and the mindset they have instilled in them by Coach Steven’s, it’s almost guaranteed they are something great finishing out the postseason. Come out and support your Lady Cats at their next match against Apex Friendship on October 25th.
