Millbrooks Varsity Women’s Gymnastics team is one team to not be overlooked. The Lady Wildcats were conference champions this year and ended their season on a great note being date champions for the second year in a row.

Syniya Thomas took first overall with an all around score of 39.6 out of 40 possible points, also scoring a perfect 10 on beam. Kaylei Adams also performed excellently, coming in second overall with a score of 39.55 and scoring a perfect 10 on the bars, making this her second perfect 10 of the season. These two Wildcats contributed greatly towards the overall score of the team and helped the team take home the win for the second year in a row.

The 5 girls of the varsity gymnastics team: Kaylei Adams, Syniya Thomas, Dylan Mowbray, Alex Herring, and MC Schoney, worked hard during the fall months practicing twice every week. Senior Kaylei Adams says in order to prepare for these meets, “The team worked really hard this season to increase our team scores, but we still made sure to have fun in practice and at our meets.”

Junior Dylan Mowbary recalls how special it was to win states, saying: “Winning states was so exciting and having won it last year also made it even more special. The whole meet was kind of nerve wracking watching all the scores come through and hoping we could defend our state champions title.”

She also describes the team’s bond as being incredibly close-knit “because of how small it is we really get to know each other and form personal relationships more so than a huge team would. Even though gymnastics is more of an individual sport, it’s so much fun to have a team to support you during practices and competitions.”

There is no doubt the women’s gymnastics team has a great deal of talent and they hope to continue the trend of winning state championships and will be back to dominate next season in the fall.
