With temperatures rising and the fast-approaching week of Spring Break, people everywhere are scavenging for what to wear. There is no set attire for spring break and styles fluctuate depending on location, but for the typical beach vacation to the east coast, these Cat Talk style tips can help you out.

The first tip is to have several options for bathing suits. When “spring breaking” at the beach, your bikini is your outfit. Throwing on a casual sweater or pair of shorts on top will elevate your basic bikini if needed when going to a restaurant or shop.

Another necessity for spring break is jewelry. Accessorizing is key for any outfit but especially for spring break when layering is limited by temperature, jewelry adds interest to any outfit. Beaded jewelry is returning this year in popularity. It is beachy and colorful and can add spice to simple solid-colored outfits or bathing suits. Body jewelry is also gaining popularity this spring. Silver or gold thin chains wrapped around the stomach are flattering for all people looking for a pop of bling.

Senior Ellie Mosler shares a piece of her advice for upcoming spring breakers, saying that “matching sets are some of the best and easiest outfits for warm weather.” Matching sets can be found anywhere, but Amazon has a lot of nice sets for good prices, and Target has affordable options as well. If you are looking for more unique sets, edikted.com has great sets as well.

Another trending clothing piece is crochet tops. These can be used as cover-ups for the beach, or even be dressed up with a skirt or pair of jeans. The tops allow for coverage but are loose enough to stay cool in the rising temps. White, Black, or Rainbow, these crochet sweaters can be found in any color and pieced with a bathing suit or pair of shorts.

This tip is less style related but will save you a lot of pain during spring break. ALWAYS wear sunscreen. It’s invisible but wearing it will help in the long run. A cute sunburn is great but can be achieved safely while using an SPF. Sunscreen is trendy!! Just look at the growing brand Supergoop, making sunscreen that makes your skin look and feel glowy!

The most important piece of advice from Style File is to be confident in what you’re wearing. Don’t worry about what others say about your spring break outfit choices, worry about how you feel about them. Bask in the sun (safely), embrace the warmth and fun, and dress accordingly!
