Millbrook junior Brice McClendon has proven her determination to succeed in the classroom, on the soccer field, and around Millbrook’s campus. She is a part of the International Baccalaureate Programme and shows up to school each and every day to work hard. School has always been a priority to McClendon. Throughout her years at Millbrook, McClendon has made sure to always stay involved, whether that is being in clubs, playing sports, or being a good peer.
McClendon takes a great part in Millbrook’s activities, making it difficult to manage her social life. Regardless, McClendon never fails to be a good classmate, teammate, student, or friend. Junior Ainsley Roberts said, “Brice and I are close friends and even when she has a lot on her plate she makes sure to always ask me how my day is going. Having a friend like her in IB has helped me realize the importance of treating your peers with respect and kindness.” Being a reliable friend is a very good trait to have, which she shows.
Athletics is something that McClendon has poured a lot of time and effort into. She played both JV soccer and tennis her freshman year. Her sophomore year she was a part of the Varsity Soccer and Varsity Tennis team. She is also on a club soccer team outside of school. McClendon said, “Being a part of a team is something that has made me realize the importance of communication and hard work. I have to talk on the soccer field and work hard so my team and I can succeed.” Student athletes deserve recognition because of its difficulty to manage school work whilst having daily practice.
Each person who gets the chance to know McClendon can see her drive to be a better student every day. Millbrook humanities teacher Mr. Watkins said, “I have never seen Brice not smiling. She is a well rounded student who is very involved. Her attitude is something that makes her a joy to be around.” She is a part of Young Life, FCA, and Key Club. This can be very stressful but McClendon has shown that no matter what she is always going to work hard.
