On Tuesday morning the nominations for the 91st Academy Awards were revealed. The Oscars will be held on Tuesday, February 24, at 8 PM. This year’s list of nominations consisted of multiple  shockers and provided highly praised films more chances to pick up additional awards.

Netflix original Roma, which is a drama that takes place in Mexico, and The Favorite, which is a classical comedy, tied with the most nominations for this year, with ten nominations each. Black Panther also made history as the first ever superhero film to be nominated for Best Picture. This year’s event is in store for many surprises,  one being the lack of a host, since Kevin Hart stepped down from his position after receiving backlash for homophobic tweets.

The most talked about category of the Oscar, Best Picture, left fans surprised this year with its line up. The nominees are Black Panther, BlacKkKlansman, Bohemian Rhapsody, The Favorite, Green Book, Roma, A Star is Born, and Vice. The nominees for Best Actor are Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, William Dafoe, Rami Balik, and Viggo Mortensen. The nominees for Best Actress in a leading role are Yalitza Aparicio, Glenn Close, Lady Gaga, Olivia Colman, and Melissa McCarthy. If you want to see the full list of nominations, check the Academy Awards website. Do not forget to watch this February to see your favorites take home the Oscars!
