After spending weeks stuck inside, many are tired of staying in the house and doing little to be productive. With gyms closed, many people’s daily workout routines have been compromised, making it hard to stay focused, be productive, and maintain energy throughout the day. There are many ways to stay active at home, which will ensure a better mood and a more positive mindset. For those who are sick of doing traditional workouts such as going on a walk, keep reading for some fun workout ideas.

One workout bringing nostalgic feelings to many is the childhood favorite game Just Dance. This video game is a great source of cardio and fun for those who like to dance. Including hundreds of hit songs, it is great for friends and families who like competition and battling for first place. The great thing about this game is that even if you do not have a gaming system that has Just Dance, you can download the Just Dance Now app and use your phone as a controller and stream it on another device. You can also access hundreds of dances online on YouTube.

If you like to run or want to start running for the first time, the Zombies Run app might be perfect for you. This free app is a story-telling game where the player uses headphones while on a walk, run, or jog to listen to a narrated story about living in a zombie apocalypse. Things such as zombies chasing you, collecting supplies, and building structures keep the player motivated. With hundreds of different missions that are programmed to your pace, this app makes your run more engaging than normal. Additionally, you can use this app while on a run in your neighborhood or even indoors. The possibilities with this app are endless.

For those who like to work out in a more traditional way, there are many online workout calendars and programs that are perfect for reaching your fitness goals. Whether you are in the mood to do cardio, abs, or work your legs,  there are thousands of workouts online. YouTube is a great place to look by simply searching the type of workout you want and the desired time for the exercise. For those who want to take it to the next level, there are many workout challenges that include daily calendars with different videos. Influencers such as Chloe Ting and “Yoga with Adriene” have dozens of great workouts to try for free.

While these are only a few ideas out of the thousands of workout possibilities, how you choose to exercise is up to you. Senior Autumn Hlina said, “Working on strengthening my legs is my favorite type of exercise. Recently, I have been doing a lot of squats and lunges at home.” Working out at home is a great way to stay healthy and motivated during the day. The next time you work out possibly try one of these ideas to keep your routine fun and engaging.
