The 2024 NFL season ended Sunday with a heated match-up between the Kansas City Chiefs and The San Francisco 49ers. The Chiefs won 25-22 in overtime, pleasing Chiefs fans and Swifties alike. The Chiefs achieved their second consecutive superbowl win with a touchdown catch by receiver Mecole Hardman, and Chiefs fans rejoiced as red and yellow confetti rained down on the losing 49ers.
The Superbowl this year was certainly a memorable one. Reba McEntire kicked things off by singing the national anthem. At the start of the second quarter, 49ers kicker Jake Moody made Super Bowl history by making a 55 yard field goal. This put the 49ers up on the board with a score of 3-0. Also during the second quarter, Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco fumbled the catch, sending Travis Kelce into a fit of anger. Kelce, off the field at the time, came over to Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid and started screaming in his face. Kelce pushed his coach slightly, enraged that he was not in the game during this crucial moment.
After the Chief’s win, Travis was seen being affectionate with his partner Taylor Swift. Swift attended the game after performing four straight “Eras” tour concerts. Several celebrities were seen with Taylor in her box, including Ice Spice, Blake Lively, and Lana Del Rey. We can’t forget the most memorable celebrity there, Usher, as he performed the halftime show alongside Alicia Keys, H.E.R., Jermaine Dupri, Ludacris, and Lil Jon. Usher is most known for his songs “Turn Down For What” and “Yeah” which he performed at the end of the 13 minute halftime show.
This year’s superbowl was a culmination of great football, entertainment, and celebrity drama.
