Toby Bell has been recognized as one of the 15 student and teacher elected Outstanding Seniors for the positive impact he has made across campus and his remarkable dedication to both academics and career preparation. Known around school as “the big, nice country guy,” as several classmates describe him, Toby is respected for his kindness, leadership, and strong work ethic. He currently serves as an officer in FFA, has played football for three years, and has earned numerous technical certifications, including welding and digital design. Toby has also maintained straight A’s throughout his high school career, demonstrating the same commitment in the classroom as in his extracurricular activities.
Toby plans to pursue Animal Science either at Clemson or NC State on a pre-veterinary track to become a large animal veterinarian, specifically working with cattle. Growing up on a farm shaped both his interests and his ambitions, and he credits his agricultural education for helping him discover his future path. He shared that he will always remember Millbrook High School for what the agriculture program and its teachers have done for him, explaining that he has “never walked into an ag room and not been greeted with smiling faces and fun times.” Their mentorship inspired his career goals and strengthened his passion for agriculture. Looking ahead, Toby hopes that one day, after retiring, he can live peacefully on a farm in the mountains.
Toby’s dedication to agriculture is reflected not only in his goals but also in his achievements. He has earned his State FFA Degree and is on track to receive his American FFA Degree, which is one of the organization’s honors. In addition, he started his own landscaping business freshman year, which started off as a small neighborhood service and steadily expanded throughout Raleigh. He has also been recognized through a Service Club nomination, highlighting his commitment to helping others.
One of the most telling moments of Toby’s character occurred during Toby’s exclusive interview with the CatTalk. Under-classmen kept approaching him for guidance, seeking help with tasks and advice. Without hesitation, he paused to help them out, truly showing what type of person he is.
Classmate Brighid Lee spoke highly of Toby’s character and dedication, saying, “Toby is a great classmate. I’ve had the opportunity to work with him on multiple projects, especially relating to our FFA POAs. He’s always willing to do the work, and he will always see the project through, never coming up short. His work ethic is strong, and he makes classes fun.” Her words explain what many students and teachers experience when working with him.
Faith is also a central part of Toby’s life and serves as a guide to his values and goals. Whether he is helping teammates, mentoring younger classmates, or working toward his future career, he strives to lead with integrity and compassion. Among his peers and teachers, he is known as someone dependable, genuine, and always willing to lend a hand.
From his academic excellence and technical skills to his leadership in agriculture and athletics, Toby Bell is a perfect example of what it means to be an Outstanding Senior. His drive, humility, and dedication to serving others make him a student who leaves a lasting impression on his school community, and once he leaves Millbrook, there is no doubt he will make a meaningful difference anywhere he goes.
