Millbrook senior Keaton Lyon has recently been named one of the 2026 Outstanding Seniors. The achievement is an honor he says reflects the people who shaped his experience more than anything else. “This recognition means the world to me,” Lyon stated. “My peers have easily had the biggest impact on me at Millbrook.” He explained that his involvement in various groups and programs allows for him to connect with a wide range of students, most notably through the FFA program, football, and IB classes.
“I’ve met lifelong friends in everything I’m involved in at Millbrook and I can’t thank the community enough for it.” Lyon has sustained a busy schedule throughout his high school career, participating in English Honor Society, serving as the Millbrook Ambassadors president, joining FFA, and earning a welding certification through the agriculture program.
In addition, Lyon is a dedicated and four-year member of the football team. When asked what he is most proud of during his time at Millbrook, he pointed to the team reaching the 8A state championship during his senior year. “All of the time and effort that I committed to football felt justified in that I got to be a part of the first Millbrook team that made it to the state championship in over 80 years of history,” he said.
Even with accomplishments as great as being a state finalist, Lyon said one of his favorite sports memories comes from a moment of excitement that captured the strong relationships he’s made with teammates.
“By far, my favorite memory is the game winning, walk-off pick six by Hayden Heath at Wakefield,” he said. “Even though it was JV, I’ll never forget the field storm and bus ride that followed.”
Lyon also credited several Millbrook staff members for his high school success and making his four years memorable. Mrs. Broadwell, Palko, and Goblet, along with Mr. Clark and Berglund played crucial roles during his time at Millbrook. He’ll especially remember moments like making them laugh in class and traveling to the FFA national convention, all of which made school feel more personal.
He also noted Mrs. Haddock as a major member in his support system. “She keeps it 100% and has always listened to my ideas about the ambassadors program.” In fact, some of his favorite moments in their relationship were the simple ones, like passing by her room between classes and having the occasional 30-second conversation that always brightened his day.
Following graduation, Lyon plans to study business and either become a lawyer or a sports agent. He aims to carry both practical and relationship skills from Millbrook into whatever is in store for the future. “I hope to carry on the networking skills to my professional career and the technical skills I hope to be able to apply to my home life,” he said.
As his senior year comes to a close, Lyon’s involvement never fails to amaze each and every student, staff member, and teacher at Millbrook. His determination across academics, leadership, and athletics has helped him make a lasting impact on all who have had the honor to know him, and he credits the Millbrook community for shaping the person he is today.
